In Live to See the Day, journalist Mark Medley sets out to find people who have devoted their lives to dreams they know have little chance of coming true. Interviewing more than 250 people, Medley immersed himself in a question many have reckoned with: how to push forward when the world is telling you to give up. From the jungles of Indonesia, where a photographer has devoted his life to pursuing a mystery ape; to the deserts of the American Southwest, where a grizzled treasure hunter searches for a legendary lost fortune, Medley shares stories of hope and perseverance that defy conventional notions of what it means to live a rewarding life. MARSHA LEDERMAN is an award-winning journalist and author. A columnist for The Globe and Mail, she previously served as The Globe’s Western Arts Correspondent for 15 years. She is the author of Kiss the Red Stairs: The Holocaust, Once Removed and October 7th: Searching for the Humanitarian Middle. Born and raised in Toronto, she has lived in Vancouver since 2007.
