Warning: Scam Targeting Authors

We are aware of an ongoing email fraud targeting authors, sent by scammers purporting to represent various literary festivals, including the Vancouver Writers Fest.

The scam is disguised as an invitation to appear as a featured author at our Festival. Though these emails may name members of our team and link to our real website, they are in no way associated with the Vancouver Writers Fest.

Participation in our Festival and other programming is by invite only, and we will never charge a fee for authors to apply or appear on-stage. Invitations to the Vancouver Writers Fest will only come from an email address ending in @writersfest.bc.ca. If you are uncertain if an invitation you’ve received is legitimate, we encourage you to contact us at info@writersfest.bc.ca or call us at 604-681-6330.

Scam emails can be reported online or over the phone to the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre.
