Buffy Sainte-Marie


Buffy Sainte-Marie is a Cree musician, artist, educator and activist, whose work has focused on issues regarding Indigenous peoples, and whose influence has been far-reaching. A trailblazer who upsets the status quo, she’s been blacklisted and silenced, was the first woman to breastfeed on national television and is the only Indigenous person to have won an Oscar.
