11. Linden MacIntyre: An Accidental Villain

11. Linden MacIntyre: An Accidental Villain

Journalist, bestselling author, and Festival favourite Linden MacIntyre’s numerous awards include the Giller Prize, ten Gemini Awards, and an International Emmy. His latest enthralling work of nonfiction uncovers the little-known life of British Major-General Sir Hugh Tudor. Appointed by his old friend Winston Churchill to lead the police in Ireland against the IRA during the Irish War of Independence, Tudor’s brutal methods included police death squads and commanding his men to open fire on Irish civilians in the Bloody Sunday massacre. An Accidental Villain is a shocking account of how a man reaches the point where he acts against his own training, principles, and inclination in the service of a cause. Hear a conversation and a fascinating piece of history that will echo loudly in our present moment. Moderated by Marsha Lederman.
