Respected authors and political commentators take the stage to address the threats undermining Canadian democracy and sovereignty, and discuss solutions for our survival. Andrew Coyne’s The Crisis of Canadian Democracy is a powerful wake-up call, revealing a parliamentary structure eroded by unaccountable leaders, disempowered MPs, manipulated elections, and systemic dysfunction. Patrick Lennox worked to counter foreign interference for over a decade; in On Treason, he investigates how the Alberta separatism movement has been aided and abetted by foreign actors and targeted disinformation. Carol Off takes us on a journey through Canadian history in True Patriot Love, weaving it with personal experiences to offer a clear-eyed perspective on the future of our country. ANDREW COYNE is a columnist for The Globe and Mail. Raised in Winnipeg, Mr. Coyne holds degrees from the University of Toronto and the London School of Economics. He was written previously for The National Post, Maclean’s and Southam News, contributing as well to a wide range of other publications in Canada and abroad, including The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, The National Review, and The Walrus. He is also a weekly panelist on CBC’s The National.
MAX FAWCETT is the lead columnist for Canada's National Observer and the former editor of Vancouver and Alberta Oil magazines. He's won a national newspaper award and a national magazine award for his columns, and in addition to his decade-plus in journalism he's spent two years on Parliament Hill and two more working for Alberta's short-lived Climate Change Office. He and his family live in Calgary, and he's directly related to Canada's worst prime minister (you'll have to guess which one).
PATRICK LENNOX is a Canadian writer based in Edmonton, Alberta. He worked to counter foreign interference for over a decade in both Ottawa and in Edmonton with Canada’s security and intelligence community. He first started writing about Canada-US relations twenty years ago, and has a PhD in political science from the University of Toronto. He’s a frequent contributor to The Walrus.
CAROL OFF spent almost sixteen years co-hosting the multi-award-winning CBC radio program, As It Happens. Her books include the number one bestseller At a Loss for Words: Conversations in an Age of Rage and All We Leave Behind: A Reporter’s Journey into the Lives of Others, winner of the British Columbia National Award for Canadian Non-Fiction.
