38. Masterclass with Kenneth Oppel

38. Masterclass with Kenneth Oppel

Award-winning children’s and YA author Kenneth Oppel wrote his first novel at age fourteen—a funny book about a boy addicted to video games, which was picked up by a literary agent and published before Oppel turned twenty. Since then, he has created dozens of beloved books, including the million-copy bestselling Silverwing trilogy, and his latest heart-stopping teen survival thriller, Best of All Worlds. Oppel will shed light on his career path, how he shifts between and plays with genres, and more, in this fascinating Masterclass that will appeal to both middle grade and high school students. Grades 7–10.

Presented thanks to the generous support of The Pitfield Family in memory of Ebie Pitfield.

Themes: Creative writing, storytelling, publishing, careers
Curriculum Connections: English Language Arts 4-9, Career Education 6-9, Career-Life Connections
