37. Storytime with Scaredy Squirrel

Readers of all ages love Melanie Watt’s sweetly vulnerable Scaredy Squirrel, the titular star of a bestselling book series and animated TV show. The well-prepared worrywart is back in Nuts About Scaredy Squirrel, a collection of five hilarious stories that show young readers that just like Scaredy Squirrel, they too can take risks and do scary things. This storytime with the series’ author and illustrator will be filled with laughter and gentle lessons on courage, adaptability, and perseverance. Grades 1–3.

Melanie Watt

MELANIE WATT is the author and illustrator of several books, including the Learning with Animals collection and Augustine, which was named an ALA Notable Children’s Book. Watt has also illustrated Where Does a Tiger-Heron Spend the Night? and Bearcub and Mama, which won the 2006 IRA Teachers’ Choices Project. Melanie’s best known book Scaredy Squirrel, has won many awards including the Ruth and Sylvia Schwartz Children’s Book Award for Children’s Picture Book and the Amelia Frances Howard-Gibbon Illustrator’s Award.
