34. Storytime with Nature (And Dinos!)

34. Storytime with Nature (And Dinos!)

Little ones will be endlessly delighted by this storytime featuring three presentations from beloved, award-winning picture book authors—and teachers will find recommended reads to add to their classroom shelves. Caroline Adderson playfully adapts one of the poet Bashō’s most famous haikus for young readers in A Pond, a Poet, and Three Pests. In Linda Bailey’s The Great Dinosaur Sleepover, Jake is disappointed when his friends come down with the flu and can’t attend his dino-themed birthday party, until real dinosaurs show up to celebrate with him instead! Tae Keller and Rachel Wada share We Carry the Sun, a poetic account of humankind’s relationship with the sun, filled with stunning illustrations. Grades 1–3.

Themes: Picture books, storytelling, poetry, nature, humour, friendship
Curriculum Connections: English Language Arts K-3, Arts Education K-3
