Every young person deserves the chance to feel like they belong, are recognized, and that they matter. Celebrated Indigenous voices from across Turtle Island speak directly to young people in this joyous and inspiring anthology of letters and art. Stephanie Sinclair, co-editor of You Were Made for This World, is joined on-stage by esteemed contributors David A. Robertson and katherena vermette. Together, they’ll celebrate the potential of youth, share a sense of pride in tradition and personal teachings, and encourage young people to honour who they are and what they dream of. Grades 4–7.

DAVID A. ROBERTSON is the bestselling author of the ongoing Misewa Saga, the forthcoming picture book Little Shoes, and new adult titles All the Little Monsters and 52 Ways to Reconcile, and the two-time winner of the Governor General’s Literary Award. Dave is a member of the Norway House Cree Nation and lives in Winnipeg.
STEPHANIE SINCLAIR is Publisher of McClelland & Stewart, an imprint of Penguin Random House Canada. She is a Cree, Ojibwe, and German/Jewish settler. She is a fierce advocate and activist, serving as a mentor and curator, and organizing publishing events to challenge colonial practices in publishing and to advance the work of reconciliation. She lives in Hamilton, Ontario, with her two children.
KATHERENA VERMETTE is a Red River Métis (Michif) writer from Treaty 1 territory. Her father’s roots run deep in this land, dating back over two centuries, and her mother’s side is Mennonite. vermette received the Governor General’s Literary Award for Poetry for her first book, North End Love Songs, and wide acclaim for her second collection of poems, river woman. The Break, a novel, won many awards including the Amazon.ca First Novel Award, and was a bestseller in Canada. She holds an MFA from the University of British Columbia. Born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, katherena lives with her family in a cranky old house within skipping distance of the temperamental Red River.
