08. Masterclass with Tanya Boteju

08. Masterclass with Tanya Boteju

Tanya Boteju is the acclaimed author of three YA novels, including Messy Perfect, her new book that follows a rule-following teen who starts a Gender and Sexuality Alliance at her Catholic high school. Her work explores queer identity, self-discovery, and self-acceptance.

As an educator committed to anti-oppressive teaching and learning, she also knows how to hold the attention of a classroom. In this engaging Masterclass, Boteju will guide teens in a discussion, interactive writing activity, and Q+A period around themes of perfectionism and self-expression. Grades 8–12.

Presented thanks to the generous support of The Pitfield Family in memory of Ebie Pitfield.

Themes: Young adult, creative writing, coming-of-age, queer identity, LGBTQ2SIA+
Curriculum Connections: English Language Arts 8-9, Creative Writing 10-12, Career-Life Connections
