87. On Freedom: Timothy Snyder with The Current’s Matt Galloway

87. On Freedom: Timothy Snyder with The Current’s Matt Galloway

Our closing night event is, appropriately, with the “leading interpreter of our dark times” (The Guardian): acclaimed Yale historian and New York Times bestseller Timothy Snyder speaks with CBC’s The Currents Matt Galloway. His work has offered startling reinterpretations of political collapse while fighting authoritarianism and inspiring others to do the same. In his latest philosophical tour-de-force, On Freedom, he helps us see exactly what we’re fighting for. Drawing on works and conversations from philosophers, political dissidents, and contemporary thinkers, he identifies the “habits of mind” that will allow us to design a government in which we and future generations can flourish: a project at the forefront of minds across the globe. This brilliant keynote is as kind as it is cerebral, as urgent as it is unmissable.

Presented in partnership with Penguin Random House Canada.
