Time doesn’t work the same way it usually does around Richard Van Camp. The prolific, award-winning Indigenous author of 28 books—the most recent of which is Beast—is so entertaining, an hour will fly by as you’re immersed in his creative stories that speak to both the difficult realities of life and the sense of potential we can all tap into—for ourselves and each other. In this Masterclass, he’ll talk about his own career path and how he built such success, and even share some of his own writing exercises that have contributed to his accomplishments. Grades 8–12.

Richard Van Camp

Born in Fort Smith, NWT, bestselling-author RICHARD VAN CAMP is a member of the Dogrib (Tłįchǫ) Dene Nation. He’s been awarded the Blue Metropolis First Peoples Literary Prize; Storyteller of the Year from the Wordcraft Circle of Native Writers and Storytellers; and the Order of the Northwest Territories.
