06. Masterclass with Kevin Sylvester

06. Masterclass with Kevin Sylvester

Talk about an inspiring morning! Kevin Sylvester is beloved not only for his bold illustrations and dozens of riveting books, but for his down-to-earth and hilarious approach to teaching. The master illustrator and storyteller, who comes to the Festival with Puffin and Penguin, offers a drawing masterclass to help kids feel comfortable developing their own visual stories. He’ll guide kids through simple illustrations, showing them in real-time how he crafts his own characters. By the end of the class, students will know more about the delightfully funny antics of Puffin, Penguin, and their pals, as well as how to strengthen their drawing skills. Grades 1–3.

Themes: Picture books, art, drawing, storytelling
Curriculum Connections: Arts Education K-3, and English Language Arts K-5
