Eleven Out of Ten

Stacey Matson

Excited about a break from home-schooling, Albie can’t wait to spend every minute with her best friend — her cousin Lake — either in Lake’s swimming pool or working on their project for the Young Entrepreneur Club contest. But then Lake has a serious diving accident and is rushed to the hospital in critical condition.

Lake is placed in the ICU, where her fate remains uncertain. Now Albie’s summer is ruined: She’s separated from her cousin, who she’s desperately worried about, and stuck in a boring day camp with her little brother. Without Lake around, Albie has to deal with the other kids at camp, not finding fun and solace in the water, and having to create a business all on her own. Albie’s never been one to take charge, but this might be her summer to do just that. After all, Lake is counting on her. But is Albie betraying Lake by making new friends in her absence?
