Thank You for Supporting Whisky & Words

We are overwhelmed by the support we received at this year’s Whisky & Words, our annual fundraiser.

With more than 350 people filling  Performance Works in support of the Vancouver Writers Fest’s youth education programming, this was our very first sold-out year! The night included enchanting conversation, tasty hors d’œuvres and, of course, unlimited drams of whisky.

The success of this event would not have been possible without the hard work and contribution of many.

Thank you to our major signature partner, Vancouver magazine for their immense support in promoting Whisky & Words. And thank you to our other signature partners, AMY Inspired and Lonsdale Event Rentals, for providing a fabulous lounge space for attendees to relax and connect, and a seemingly endless supply of tasting glasses, respectively!

From brisket poutine to smoked duck salad, our guests enjoyed food from five local restaurants throughout the evening. Thank you to Wildebeest, Origo Club, Cibo Trattoria, H2 Rotisserie & Bar and Tuc for donating their time, staff and delicious bites to our event.

And thank you to Table Tutors DJ Training Academy for providing the musical stylings that had people swaying all night long.

This year, we introduced a new addition to our Whisky & Words lineup: a series of masterclasses at pop-up locations around Granville Island. Each class featured a spirits ambassador who led an intimate group through a tasting, focusing on the grains, the process and the experience. The Masterclass Partners who supported this include Pacific Institute of Culinary Arts, Edible Canada, The Sandbar, Granville Island Hotel, Dockside Restaurant and Origins Coffee Roasters.

And last but not least, we extend a heartfelt thank you to our exceptional team of volunteers who kept the evening running smoothly from beginning to end.

Each year, this fundraiser helps to support the Vancouver Writers Fest youth education outreach programs. Through our educational programming, we offer students the opportunity to interact with celebrated writers from across the globe in more than 40 events designed specifically for young people, teachers, schools and student groups. Each year, we reach more than 7,000 students across British Columbia—in the classroom or at the Festival.

Thank you for your support. We can’t wait to welcome you back next year.
