Saturday, October 20 | Accessible Festival Events
On Saturday, October 20th, the Vancouver Writers Fest is presenting all Festival events free-of charge (though donations will be graciously accepted).*
The Vancouver Writers Fest is able to present Free Saturday thanks to the generous support of Raincoast Books and the Y.P. Heung Foundation.
Why We’ve Introduced Free Saturday
The Vancouver Writers Fest is committed to providing a full day of Festival events to the public absolutely free of charge. In doing so, we honour our commitment to principles of inclusion, equity and access.
We know that the conversations which happen on our Festival stages are everything from intriguing to life-changing. Our Free Saturday initiative helps to ensure that as many members of our Vancouver community as possible can engage with these ideas and the possibilities they spark.
How Free Saturday Works
75% of tickets to free Saturday events are available to reserve online. The remaining tickets will be available at the door of the event, 45 minutes prior to start time on a first-come, first-serve basis. Tickets to free events do not guarantee entry. Ticket holders must arrive no later than 15 minutes prior to event start time to ensure entry.
The Writers Fest is committed to making Festival events on Saturday more accessible to communities across the Lower Mainland, so entry is free, not by donation.
We appreciate all of our committed supporters who help us put on our amazing week-long Festival and donations to help us fund the costs of making the Festival’s impactful programming more accessible are greatly appreciated. Donations can be made here.
For corporate or foundation contributions please contact our Development Director, Andrew Forshner.
*The Literary Cabaret is not included in our Free Saturday initiative.
