Studio 1398

What if hero and superhuman Captain America was not simply fiction but near-future scientific achievement? Professor, author and comic book enthusiast E. Paul Zehr explores the rapid development of biomedical science and engineering, as told in his fascinating Chasing Captain America. In a mind-bending yet accessible presentation, he explains how—with our ever-expanding scientific and technological prowess—human biological adaptability is now in our accomplished, but fallible, hands. One of our non-fiction events of the Festival, it’s a reminder that truth really can be stranger than fiction.

Ken Boesem is an acclaimed Canadian cartoonist, writer and illustrator who’s been featured in Maclean’s, Geist, and Broken Pencil.

Also suitable for grades 10–12.
