Rachel Kushner joins us in Vancouver fresh from the Man Booker celebrations in London to discuss her acclaimed, Booker-shortlisted novel, The Mars Room. It’s a gripping new novel about women, violence, and California, as told through the experiences of a mother serving two life sentences. The giant of contemporary culture will discuss her latest work  with author and The Festival of Literary Diversity Artistic Director, Jael Richardson.

Rachel Kushner is the bestselling author of The Flamethrowers, a finalist for the National Book Award and a New York Times Top Ten Book of 2013. Her first novel, Telex from Cuba was also a finalist for the National Book Award. Her latest novel, The Mars Room, has been longlisted for this year’s Man Booker Prize. She lives in Los Angeles.
