Booksellers Unite to Deliver Books to Readers’ Doors

Neither rain, nor sleet, nor dark of night shall stay these book lovers from delivering stories to the hands of readers. (Never mind a pandemic!)

In a time of rigid social isolation, mandatory quarantine and diminished expedited shipping, getting your hands on your next great read—right when you need it—seems almost impossible. However, residents of Metro Vancouver can rejoice: local independent booksellers, such as Massy Books, Iron Dog Books and Macleod’s Books (604.681.7654), have banded together to provide door-to-door delivery for any current stock on their shelves.

By working together, these three stores are now able to serve a number of communities in Metro Vancouver, including North and West Vancouver, Port Coquitlam and Port Moody, Surrey and even White Rock. They are currently providing no-contact delivery every 2–3 days, with plans to expand should reader demand grow. If you live outside of their current routes, discounted, flat delivery rates (as low as $5) are currently in effect.

Other bookstores are offering similar: Spartacus Books and The Paper Hound Bookshop are also accepting phone or email orders and, in some cases, delivery.

We encourage lovers of books and ideas to support these incredible businesses and tireless community leaders, especially in a time of turmoil and uncertainty. We suggest buying books for yourself, your extended family and even your neighbours.
