Purchasing School Tickets

To request tickets, please complete this online form.

Once submitted, the form will link you to PayPal where you’ll be required to place a 25% non-refundable deposit on your requested ticket total.

Receipt of the deposit ensures that you have the requested seats for one of the three choices. If you are requesting tickets for more than one event, please click ‘Yes’ under “Would you like to make a second order?”

Once your PayPal deposit has been received, you will receive a confirmation e-mail and invoice from the VWF Box Office. The invoice will be for the remaining 75% of the order and should be used to request a school cheque. The invoice will clearly state that a 25% deposit has been received. This will help you to secure reimbursement from your school if the deposit was made on a personal credit card.

Payment for the remaining 75% of the total MUST be received by the Vancouver Writers Fest WITHIN TWO WEEKS of your order being reserved. Payment can be made via cheque or by speaking with a Box Office representative and providing credit card information over the phone.

Box Office tel: (778) 658-0451
Email: boxoffice@writersfest.bc.ca

Requests should not be considered confirmed until you have received an invoice. If you do not receive an invoice within three days, please call the box office on the number above.

If the outstanding amount is not received within the two week period, the reserved tickets will be released and made available to other school groups to purchase and the 25% deposit will not be refunded.

Note: the 25% deposit does not confirm your full booking but rather it reserved the ticket you’ve requested until full payment is received.

In the unlikely event that all three of your choices are fully booked by the time your form and deposit is received, a Box Office representative will contact you to recommend other suitable options.

All requests are treated equally and processed on a first-come, first-served basis, subject to availability. We will do our very best to ensure you have tickets to your first choice, but due to the high demand for school groups, we may need to move to your 2nd or 3rd choice.

Bus Subsidies

The Bus Subsidy Fund is intended to provide local travel assistance to groups of students attending the Festival’s Spreading the Word events, based on financial need. The program is generously underwritten by donor, Bonnie Mah.

COSTS COVERED
School groups attending the Festival can apply for a subsidy per student equivalent to single-direction transit fares required to travel to the Festival; i.e. a group of 30 students from a Burnaby school can apply for a $82.50 subsidy (30 x $2.75 fare). The school can use this money for transit tickets or as a contribution towards other transportation means.

HOW TO APPLY
Apply by filling in the Bus Subsidy Request Form

Eligible schools are those that are economically challenged or otherwise identified as in need of support. The request for a Bus Subsidy can be made in conjunction with an application for subsidized but the program is also open to schools that are paying for tickets.

Funding is limited. If the request is approved, the teacher will be notified by email and a cheque for the subsidy will be mailed to the school as soon as the group’s event tickets are fully processed and ready for pickup.

For further information about the subsidy, please contact Executive Director, Nicole Nozick, at (604) 262-1213 or at nnozick@writersfest.bc.ca

Applications are accepted from September 10, 2018 and will be assessed on a case-by- case basis after September 17.

Ticket Subsidies

Apply by filling in the Ticket Subsidies Form

Please include the number of students and accompanying adults in your group and the event details. It is a good idea to include both a first and second choice because events fill up quickly.

If your request is approved, you will be notified by email and the tickets will be available for pick up at the event. If you prefer, the tickets may be picked up in advance by making arrangements with the Box Office ((778) 658-0451 or boxoffice@writersfest.bc.ca). Should the number in your group change, please notify the Box Office immediately. Requests for additional tickets may not always be possible. If you require fewer tickets than originally requested, it is important that we have the opportunity to sell/provide these tickets to other patrons.

For further information about the subsidy, please contact Executive Director, Nicole Nozick, at (604) 262-1213 or at nnozick@writersfest.bc.ca
