Miles Without Borders

25/06/10 - So far you've donated 17,379 air miles to bring writers to the Festival! Thank you for your support. We need just 7,621 more miles to purchase a flight within North America, so if you've been procrastinating sending in your donation, consider this a friendly little nudge to get those miles off your plate and onto ours.

Looking for a novel way to support the Vancouver International Writers & Readers Festival? Look no further! The VIWF is once again partnered with Aeroplan's Miles Without Borders, a program that enables local organizations to pool donated Aeroplan miles in a self-administered, charitable account.

Thanks to donors who contributed Aeroplan miles in 2008, we were able to bring Canadian authors Mariko Tamaki and Sheri-D Wilson to the Festival; in 2007 generously donated miles enabled us to present Richard Siken. We also used donated miles to partially fund trips for three other authors.

This year the Festival will again be responsible for covering international travel costs for a handful of writers including UK author Richard Ford (The Lay of the Land) and Cape Breton Author Alistair MacLeod. Your donation of Aeroplan miles will help us with this extraordinary expense.

We will accept donations of any amount because they all add up.

For more information, please email General Manager Camilla Tibbs at ctibbs@writersfest.bc.ca or phone the office at 604.681.6330.

Please note that donations are not deemed qualifying transactions and will not prevent the larger sum of your account from expiring on its set date.
