Incite is a free reading series presented by the Vancouver Writers Fest and the Vancouver Public Library. It offers intimate conversations with authors every second Wednesday from January to May.
Featured authors include world-famous best sellers and newly published talents from the West Coast and beyond. Hosted at the VPL’s central branch in downtown Vancouver, Incite provides a highly accessible opportunity for all members of the city’s community to engage with writers and ideas.
Through our Spreading the Word educational outreach programs, we offer students the opportunity to interact with celebrated writers from across the globe in more than 40 events designed specifically for young people, teachers, schools and student groups. Each year, we reach more than 7,000 students across British Columbia—in the classroom or at the Festival.
Every year, the Vancouver Writers Fest launches an adult and children’s writing contest for both fiction and poetry. A jury of writers judges the entries each year, awarding both cash prizes and publication.
Many winners have subsequently had their works published—either by a publisher or in major literary journals.
